In her citation, Ms Bunt was described as a dedicated volunteer who had a focus on inclusivity and equity.
“Jade has always been a firm believer in change starting at home and has actively sought to make this change with and alongside her teachers and students/peers and uses er voice to promote respect, kindness, equality and fairness, values that person to person change the community to a more accepting environment,” the citation said.
Ms Bunt said volunteer work provided a unique insight into the struggles and tribulations faced by many.
There was also an empowerment when helping others, she said.
“In the last 18 months I’ve been shown in abundance the true power of our regional community. Comparatively in size to our metropolitan cousins we are not huge, however in strength, determination and resilience we are mighty,” Ms Bunt said.
The teenager said she would continue fighting for inclusivity, fairness, justice and power for all, while aiming to make Dubbo a better community for all.
