NSW Police rural crime investigators said some time between 9pm on Saturday, January 5 and 9am on January 6, unknown people have entered a property on Burthong Road at Nymagee in a vehicle.

“The vehicle left clear tracks in the area and is believed to being hunting illegally with dogs,” State Rural Crime Co-ordinator Detective Inspector Cameron Whiteside said.

“Police suspect a large hunting dog with a breast plate on and a brown kelpie were with the hunters.

“Unfortunately the vehicle or dogs are not further described.”

Det Insp has warned that vehicles can be seized by police if you are caught hunting illegal on a property.

“It’s simple, get permission or stay home,” he said.

Det Insp has called on rural property owners who are “having issues with illegal hunting and trespassers” to consider installing covert electronic surveillance in the form of closed circuit television (CCTV) or trail cameras.

“This technology is becoming very affordable and alerts can be sent to your smartphone in real time,” he said.
