A man has been asked to pay $1190 in fines after he failed to identify two unregistered dogs on the back of his vehicle.

His co-passenger has also been fined $165 for not having a micro-chip on his dog.
Police said it stopped the vehicle on Terowie Road, between Peak Hill and Narromine, over the Christmas and New Year period.
“There were five people in the vehicle and three dogs on the back,” police said.
“None of the dogs were registered or identified by micro-chips.
“The driver was issued fines totalling $1190 for owning two unregistered and unidentified dogs. A second occupant of the vehicle was fined $165.”
Police were carrying out an operation to check illegal hunting in Peak Hill, Tullamore, and Dandaloo areas.
“Dog owners need to be aware that dogs must be identified by a micro-chip from three months of age and registered from six months old,” police said.
“They must also wear a collar with the dog’s name and contact details for the owner.

“Police are also reminding people it is an offence for a person to supply, gift or sell a dog to anyone, irrespective of age, that is not micro-chipped.”
Residents are urged to inform police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 about any illegal hunting in their respective areas.
