The Paediatric Ward won the tough competition, beating 13 other entries from the hospital, as well as the Dubbo Community Health Centre.
From the beginning of 2018, the ward offered every in-patient a star they could decorate. The stars were all collated and hung from the roof alongside fairy lights and a replica of the solar system.

Community Heath was awarded the second prize and third went to the physiotherapy clinic.
For winning the trophy, the paediatric ward received a $200 prize to Royal India Restobar.
Dubbo Hospital director of nursing Jenny Johnson said the Christmas decorating competition was something the hospital did every year.
“It’s really lovely because it lifts the spirits of everyone who has to be in hospital at Christmastime. The paediatric one was amazing. They’ve been working on it all year,” Ms Johnson said.
“It’s pretty hotly contests and a lot of them do it in their own time.”
Three judges were invited to pick the winners.
