Niamh Xu-Glassop, Stephanie Wong, Isabel Wong, Emmie Williams, Phoebe Wong and Ruby Williams spent Monday morning outside Dubbo’s Talbragar Street post office playing Christmas carols for passers by.
The children, who learn violin under the tutelage of Alison Williams, came together to help Molly after it was suggested by Ai-vee Chua – Isabel, Stephanie and Phoebe’s mum.
Together, they raised $360 in just two hours for Molly, who is battling osteosarcoma, a paediatric bone cancer.
“She’s one of my good friends,” Niamh said.
“So she can get through this and to also show that we’re all there for her so she can have a happy Christmas.”
It was a moving gesture for Molly, who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in July.
She and her family – John and Ange and sister Maddie – have relocated the 370 kilometres to the Ronald McDonald House at Sydney’s Westmead Children’s Hospital for Molly to undergo treatment.
But fundraisers in recent months – including Monday’s festive effort – over recent months, have helped raise their spirits, while easing the financial burden.
“The kids go to school with Molly at St Mary’s and they all learn music together,” Alison said. “It’s just a small way they can contribute at Christmas time.”
