Dubbo police have uncovered a range of drugs after almost 300 people were searched at the Wellington Correctional Centre.

Officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District, in collaboration with officers from the correctional centre, screened 298 people and searched 132 vehicles during an operation on Saturday.
Sergeant Jill Gibson said police seized 27 suboxone strips, 26 MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy) tablets, cannabis, ketamine, a filet knife and a meat cleaver.
“A number of people were charged in relation to drug supply and introducing banned substances into correctional centres,” Sgt Gibson said.

She said it was a successful operation which would help keep the jail drug free.
On Saturday police also arrested a 31-year-old man after it’s alleged he stole a number of items over a period of days from a Dubbo supermarket.
“He was captured by CCTV and witnesses at the location stealing the items,” Sgt Gibson said.
She said at 5.50pm on Saturday, police sited the man in Whylandra Street wearing the same clothing as on the CCTV footage.
“He was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with four larceny offences and bail refused to Dubbo Local Court,” Sgt Gibson said.
On the same day police charged a 32-year-old man after he was found with two bags of white crystal.
The man was stopped by police at 6.20pm. Police allege he was wanted for breach of bail.
A search of his person found he two small, plastic resealable bags containing white crystal as well as a black folding knife.
He was arrested, charged and then refused bail.
