RSL COLTS president Brad Cox says his team can improve, which would be a scary prospect for the other five clubs battling it out for Whitney Cup supremacy.

“We are undefeated this season so far due to our consistency,” Cox said. “But we’re not resting on our laurels; we have a fair bit of improving to do if we are to be successful this season.
“We’ve been bowling good in patches and putting good batting partnerships together but we need to improve our bowling and a few of our top order batsmen could get off to better starts.”
One area the club has improved this season is fielding and Cox said it is good to see a plan come together.
“We had a focus on improving our fielding this season, Marty Jefferies coming back into the side has been a good influence on our younger blokes,” he said. “He has been helping them at training, showing them what’s expected of them in the field and we have been running an extra fielding session a week, that’s paid off.”
Cox said his side aren’t not putting the cart before the horse as far as finals expectations go.
“We are trying to keep a lid on expectations for finals because we know we need to improve our batting and bowling,” he said.
“But to be honest unless one of the top three teams have a shocking back half of the season, it looks likely that the current top three we will play in finals.
“We’re not complacent though because getting there is one thing, but winning it is an entirely different story.
“Both Newtown and CYMS have very good sides, so we have to play well for the rest of season to be in serious finals calculations.”
