The Dubbo association took a bumper eight Devils teams to the titles and half of those went on to feature in grand finals.
The under 10s girls claimed victory in their division but Dubbo junior director Nic Grose couldn’t have been happier with the effort across the board.
“Last year we struggled to get teams a bit for various reasons and this year we got eight,” Grose said.
“Some were a bit short and the under 16s did only have seven when they made grand final, and you’re allowed 14 players.
“But every team made finals of some sort, whether it was quarter finals, semi-finals or the grand final.”
The work done on the field filled Grose with pride, as did the effort off it from coaches, parents, and other volunteers.

“We’ve got people involved who don’t have kids or don’t have kids playing yet so it was all really positive,” she said.
“You need to stick with the grassroots because they’re the ones who are the up-and-comers and they’ll be the adult players. You want to keep them in the sport.
“I can’t thank all the helpers enough. The parents, coaches, and volunteers on the junior committee. It was awesome.”
The victorious Dubbo Devils under 10s girls team was outstanding at the tournament.
It was both matches on day one, scoring 19 tries and conceding none in the process, before downing both Orange sides to move straight through to the grand final.
Taking on the Orange Thunder in the final, the Dubbo side was electric and ran out 6-1 winners in a Billie Backus-inspired victory.
Backus ran in five tries in the dominant showing.
“It was a really positive showing and having some of the real younger juniors win is exciting,” Grose said.
Another proud achievement for Grose and the association was Dubbo Touch Football Association finishing joint-second overall in terms of the club championship.
Orange Thunder was a runaway victory, dominating across various age groups, while Dubbo finished in a share of second with the hosts, Mudgee Mudcrabs.
The Don Green event is a stepping stone for many sides towards both the Peter Wilson Memorial Championships at Nelson Bay in February of next year and the Junior State Cup.
