Sportsman’s Warehouse Store manager Casey Pickering said they were pleased to offer the sponsorship to the two local rising stars.
“By giving them a full cricket kit which includes bat, pads, gloves and bag we hope to be able to help them with their careers,” he said.
“Aimee and Mitch have shown through their representative cricket form that they were worthy recipients and this sponsorship is our way of supporting local talent. We will keep an eye on them and see how the progress through the ranks.”
Sixteen-year-old Mitch said he was ecstatic when told he had won the sponsorship.
“I am very grateful to win it,” he said. “I am passionate about my cricket, I recently had the opportunity to play cricket in the UK and I love playing for Newtown. I was due to upgrade my cricket kit, so this has come along at the perfect time.”
Thirteen-year-old Aimee said she was grateful for the sponsorship.
“I have been using a lot of second-hand equipment so getting new gear is a big help to my parents and me,” she said. “I just love cricket and I have been lucky that there are so many exciting pathways for girls to play and I see a potential for a career in the future.”
