Musician Mojo Juju’s latest album has been recognised with a JAward, just days before the Australian ARIAs. Native Tongue, which was directed by Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore received the 2018 JAward for Australian Music Video of the Year. The video features Mojo Juju – full name Mojo Ruiz de Luzuriaga – alongside the Djuki Mala Dancers and The Pasefika Victoria Choir. ALSO MAKING NEWS: The triple j Australian Album of the Year went to Middle Kids’ Lost Friends, the Double J Artist of the Year was late musician Gurrumul and Kwame was named as the Unearthed Artist of the Year. On Wednesday night Mojo Juju is in the running for three ARIA Music Awards: Video of the Year, Best Urban Release and Breakthrough Artist. Juju said she thought it was the honesty of Native Tongue that caught the attention of the industry. She sais she’s given up on trying to please everyone and is instead concentrating on herself.
