A cohort of 26 budding thespians, singers and directors aged eight to 12, have worked for two terms on their final show Lights Camel Action! by Antony Copus.
Musical and theatre program director Camilla Ward described it as “Britain’s Got Talent meets The Nativity”.
“Our ethos is for the Conservatorium program is that everybody has an opportunity to be on the stage, everybody has the opportunity to experience musical theatre,” Ms Ward said.
“For a lot of children this is their first opportunity being up in front of not only family and friends, but two school shows and the public.
“Once the costumes are on and the make up are on and the children are in teh zone, they know all their hard work is going to paid off.
Twelve-year-old Olivia Khatri who played Mary said being on stage was exciting but there was more to the production.
“It’s really fun to be in musical theatre because everyone gets a part and their own say in the character,” she said.
“I do really want to be a director and that’s why it’s really great to have Camilla as a teacher because she gives great tips about being a director in the future.”
Production directors Ms Ward and Musical Director Raelene Burns thanked the support from Mrs Margaret Gibb, parents and other’s support.
“It is always a success … we want it to be a positive experience, they learnt their lines, they learnt their dance steps and they had a good time and entertained the community,” Ms Ward said.
