The Bureau of Meteorology’s automatic weather station at Dubbo City Regional Airport collected 7.2 mm of rain in the 24-hour period to 9am Wednesday.
But Dubbo residents with gauges in their backyards have reported of tipping out as much as 16mm of rain on Wednesday morning.

The bureau’s official reading took total rainfall for Dubbo this month to 44.8mm, with the heaviest fall of 18mm of rain on November 8.
Many Western NSW communities also welcomed rain in the 24-hour period to 9am Wednesday.
Wellington received 16mm, Coonamble 14.8mm, Trangie 10.6mm, Walgett 9.8mm, Brewarrina 8.2mm, Bourke 5.8mm, Nyngan 4.4mm and Cobar 2.4mm.
On Wednesday the bureau was forecasting the chance of showers and a thunderstorm in Dubbo.
It also reported of a 20 per cent chance of showers in the city on Sunday.
