It’s the first time school fees have been reduced in the dioceses. Fees are determined based on a needs-based funding model in accordance with funding changes introduced by the federal government.
In Dubbo, St John’s Primary, St Laurence’s, St Mary’s and St Pius X will all see a reduction in fees. School costs for St Mary’s in Wellington will also drop.
The Capital Works Levy will remain the same as 2018.

Bishop Michael McKenna said he hoped the fee reduction would assist families in the dioceses and demonstrated the ongoing commitment to make Catholic Education affordable for all.
“However, if your family is suffering financial hardship for any reason and finding it difficult to pay school fees, please contact your school principal to discuss options of how we can assist. A family’s financial situation should never be a barrier to accessing or continuing a Catholic education in our schools,” he said.
Sessions will also be held across the diocese this weekend as part of the Open Listening and Dialogue phase of preparations for the Plenary Council in 2020. It’s the start of a three-year conversation to share the future of the church and its mission.

The sessions will be facilitated by Lana Turvey-Collins.
“The discernment and listening process helps all people participate in to consider the Plenary Council’s central question: “What do you think God is asking of us in Australia at this time?” Ms Turvey-Collins said
“The Plenary Council will, like no other event in the church’s history in Australia, allow all Catholics to shape a discussion about the future of our church. Everyone’s experience of faith and the Church is unique and it’s important that the Plenary Council hears the voice of as many people as possible,”
The Dubbo session will be held on Saturday at St Brigid’s Hall from 10am until 12pm.
