Ben’s mates are ensuring he won’t go through his ordeal alone and are rallying the Dubbo community to support him through a fundraising night on October 27 at the Garden Hotel.
Since receiving the diagnosis Ben, who is only 33 years of age, has been unable to work.
As a self-employed builder, Ben worries about letting customers down with the unpredictability of his health.
A group of friends, some of whom have known Ben since primary school, have banded together to help ease Ben’s financial pressure by organising an auction of donated items.
“Ben would do anything for anyone at the drop of a hat,” a spokesperson for his friends said.
“He’s really modest and doesn’t want to make a fuss, but as friends who’ve known him for most of his life, we know that if the roles were reversed, he’d be the first one there to help.”
Born and bred in Dubbo, Ben attended Orana Heights Primary School and Delroy High. He is married and comes from a close-knit family.
“Ben is facing this life-changing event with grit, determination and courage. His strength and positive attitude through this ordeal have been nothing short of inspirational,” the spokesperson said.
“Ben has a long journey ahead, but we are a group of passionate mates who will be there every step to ensure he sees this journey all the way.
“He is a true blue Aussie bloke, and we think this is a great way to show him some support and let him know we’re with him.”
Ben is passionate about the outdoors, particularly hunting and mountain and motorbike riding, so it’s apt that two of the incredible items on offer include a 50-calibre firearm (GunProDubbo) and a Roscoe 6 Trek mountain bike, (Wheeler Cycles Dubbo).
Among the diverse mix of auction items include fully installed cooling systems, entertainment packages, beauty products, artworks and an extensive range of signed sporting memorabilia.
The fundraising committee said they were astounded by the generosity of the Dubbo community.
A full list of items will be on FaceBook -“Ben Mosley’s Fundraiser night” in the days leading up to the event, and all items will be available for viewing from 3 pm at the Garden Hotel before the event kicks off at 6 pm.
