Dubbo’s Centre Manager, Gemma Lavelle, said the changes were made to help meet the needs of local families, existing clients and those who are looking for more from their child care. “We now offer care and education for children aged 0 to 12, along with outside school hours and vacation care for those aged 5 to 12,” she said.

The team of staff have a varied background including early childhood care and education, which are perfectly matched for the diverse families who utilise the centre such as non-English speaking, Indigenous and those with special needs children.
Gemma said after purchasing a number of resources to help allow the centre to meet the need of the older children, including a 12 seater bus, the centre has been constantly improving their offerings. “We have been taking the older kids on excursions to the zoo, the library and ten pin bowling,” she said. “The feedback and suggestions from families has been great so we are also looking at doing movie days, science experiments and other field trips as well, while continuing to focus on providing high quality services for all children”.
