The sisters travelled from Canberra and South West Rocks respectively and had a special tale to tell.
When Queen Elizabeth visited Dubbo in 1954, the sisters’ grandmother, Molly McGinity, was asked to prepare a posy of flowers that would be presented to Her Royal Highness.
“It is a lovely story to have in our family,” Ms Atkin said.
“It’s because of this history and it is important to us, it has become your family folk-law.”
Ms Askew said it was an easy decision for the sisters to return to their town of birth for the visit by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
“We love to come home to Dubbo,” she said.
