As the city counts down to the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex police have scaled up preparations so crowds can make the most out of the visit safely.
Orana Mid-Western Police District acting Superintendent Keith Ridley said there had been a considerable amount of planning for the police’s involvement in the upcoming visit.
“We’re are prepared, we’re bringing in additional resources from throughout the region and Orana Mid-Western Police District,” Acting Superintendent Ridley said.
He said police were prepared for the expected 10,000 people who would attend royal visit in Victoria Park on Wednesday, October 17.
“We will be presenting a highly visible policing response to ensure there is great community engagement in the Dubbo township with the royal visit,” Acting superintendent Ridley said.

“I encourage people when attending Victoria Park to attend in an orderly fashion, to be mindful of other community members, particularly the small children and elderly, and to enjoy the festivities of the day.”
“Police will be highly visible in and around Victoria Park.”
He encouraged people to stay safe while celebrating the royal visit in Dubbo.
“I would encourage people to behave in an orderly fashion, enjoy the Dubbo community and the hospitality it can present,” acting Superintendent Ridley said.
“I remind people to be mindful, those attending licensed premises and partaking in alcohol consumption, essentially enjoy the day for the spectacular that it is.”
Acting Superintendent Ridley said there were police officers who had specifically volunteered to work “with the chance to be a part of the policing team for the royal visit.”
“It is an opportunity for younger police to work on a special operation like this with dignitaries visiting the area,” he said.
“We will be working with other law enforcement agencies to ensure a successful visit.”
He said police would be on the ground to direct people to areas they could attend.
“There will be some secure areas where the general public won't be able to gain access, we ask that everyone comply ... we ask that people comply with those barriers.
“We just provide a visible presence to ensure the visit runs smoothly … we have no direct involvement in terms of interactions with the Royals, that’s not our role, our role is to be seen in the background and to ensure the visit runs smoothly and other people can enjoy it.”
