The armed robberies of service stations first occurred on the Mitchell Highway in Narromine on September 20 and the second at Cobra Street in Dubbo on September 25.
A 22-year-old man was arrested and charged on September 28 over the alleged armed robberies and is scheduled to appear on November 28.
A day later Orana Mid-Western Police District police officers launched their investigation into a new matter, an alleged carjacking.
Orana Mid-Western Police District Crime Coordinator Sergeant Adam Wood said police were investigating an “aggravated stealing of a silver Toyota Aurion car” on September 29 about 3am.
“Police are seeking assistance from the public to identify a man who may be able to assist with the investigation,” Sgt. Wood said.
The man has been described to police as being of tall, thin and Aboriginal appearance.
“The victim reported a male opened the driver’s side door of his vehicle and produced a 20 centimetre knife,” Sgt. Wood said.
“The man allegedly demanded the driver get out of the vehicle, demanded property from the victim and it’s understood the victim handed over their wallet with a small amount of money.
“The male allegedly got into the vehicle and was last seen driving away from the scene.”
