An SCG XI will play against a Dubbo District Cricket Association team to raise funds for Buy a Bale.

Former international cricketers Stuart Clark and Stuart MacGill will join McGrath and former NRL star Andrew Ryan to play the match at Victoria Park Oval from 6 pm.

Dubbo District Cricket Association president Jeff Shanks said cricket fans could watch the match for a gold coin donation at the entry gate.

“It should be a great match and it will be good to see McGrath, MacGill and Clark in action alongside Andrew Ryan,” he said.

“We are also raising money for Buy A Bale – to support the thousands of farmers who need assistance to keep their cattle, sheep and horses alive through one of the worst droughts in living history.”

Mr Shanks said the game would provide a good night of entertainment for locals.

“It will be fantastic for the cricket community and spectators alike to see these guys in action with our local cricketers,” he said.

“My belief is we will mix the players up so some Dubbo players will actually get to play alongside the former Aussie champions which will be a great experience for them.

“I’d love to see a big crowd to come along and watch the game and support us in raising for funds for the buy a bale charity.”

Charity match organiser Mel Hancock said the Association is thankful to the SCG XI trust for its hard work to bring this game to Dubbo.

“Our farmers are doing it tough and we want to support them, we know a lot of farmers love cricket and we are hoping to bring a couple of them to the match and have them mingle with the SCG trust members later on at a function. We have a few local farmers who play in the Dubbo cricket competition, so the cause is close to Associations heart.
