Schneider, one of the most recognisable names in the industry, will perform at the R U OK Mate? charity concert on Friday night, coming on board for organisers RiverSmart and R U OK?.
“We are very grateful to Melinda for taking the time out of her busy schedule to do this concert for us,” RiverSmart’s Dr Bill Phillips said.
“These are tough times in the bush and we feel an event like this should help lift the spirits of those who are doing it hard at present.”
RiverSmart, as a community-based organisation, felt it was time to work with suicide prevention charity R U OK?, Dr Phillips said.
“Going forward, we will promote the work of the charity with an emphasis on helping people learn the skills to start a meaningful conversation with anyone they’re worried about,” he said.
The Warraan Festival starts on Wednesday with art muster classes and exhibition, silent art auction, Beemumnel Reserve Aboriginal Place self-guided tours, European heritage guided walks and Tiger Bay Wetlands walk.
Tethered hot air balloon rides, bubble soccer, a carp-a-thon and more are also set to take place across the course of the five-day festival.
