The Dubbo City Bowling Club’s Senior Fours team are the NSW Champions after taking out the state final against Soldiers Point earlier this month.

Merill O’Sullivan, Trish Gosper, Kay McKenzie and Judy O’Connor had to win the regional play-offs at Gulgong in July to qualify, and won four games at the state championships to proceed to the final.
There, in a contest befitting a state final, they overcame Soldiers Point by one shot on the last end.

“It was amazing … absolutely exciting for us,” McKenzie said.
“We’ve been bridesmaids several times, runners up and this year we made it!
“Usually Annette McMillan is our skip but she couldn’t play this year as she had a sickness in the family, so it was nice to win it for her.”
It’s not the first time the team has made it through to the state finals, but McKenzie said winning in the Dubbo City colours alongside friends was “really special”.
“The friendship is great,” she said.
“It’s a good team, we all get along really well!”
