Needles and pins have been found in the fruit across the country and Berry Obsession, Berry Licious and Donnybrook Berries have recalled their strawberries from sale.
Paul Coon and Georgie Barton of Mick and Paul's Fresh Fruit and Veg Dubbo said they have never stocked the recalled brands and only sell “premium” quality strawberries.
“It is safe to shop for strawberries in our shop; we’ve never stocked those brands,” Mr Coon said.
“Our customer's safety and good health are of the utmost importance to us so keep buying our fruit, we only stock premium quality product that tastes good on its own or in jam,” Ms Barton said.
“This has been so detrimental to the industry and with so many farmers already struggling this is the last thing they need and we need, but our customers should not panic because if they support us, they are supporting local farmers.”
