The Askari Project’s Bradd Johnson said the organisation raised money for the Tsavo Trust and their conservation work. 

“In 2017 the aerial reconnaissance work totalled more than 103,000 kilometres and our donations help to fund this important work. A specific focus of this work is The Big Tusker Project which monitors and protects the regions iconic Tuskers [elephants with tusks weighing more than 45 kilograms] and Emerging Tuskers of which Tsavo is famous for,” Mr Johnson said.

The trivia night will be held on Saturday, November 10 at the Macquarie Inn.

Last year the event raised $3500 and Mr Johnson said he was hoping to surpass the total this year, while also giving attendees an update on the situation in Kenya.

The Askari Project is also hosting a nine day trek up Kilimanjaro to raise money. As well as benefiting the Tsavo Trust funds from the climb will also go to KopeLion.

The trek will be held in 2019. Those who take part raise money for the organisations 

“Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in the world that you can climb without specialist climbing gear and experience. We have the bonus of a fantastic guide - Sarah Kingdom who will lead the group and is very experienced as well as a large team of local guides and porters to help our team up the mountain,” Mr Johnson said.

“The climb is very different for each participant as everyone responds differently to the altitude but it is a tremendous feeling when you all make it to the summit for that photo.”
