Inspector Paul Stephens said there is still one person outstanding in relation to the armed robbery of a Victoria Street business in Dubbo.
Orana Mid-Western Police Disctrict Sergeant Adam Wood said the man was located by Bathurst Police in the yard of a property.
He was arrested following a short pursuit on foot and taken to Bathurst Police Station and charged. He was bail refused and is due to appear at Bathurst Local Court on October 15.
The man was charged with armed robberies with offensive weapons for three separate incidents and aggravated assault with the intent to rob, two of which occurred in Dubbo.
The first incident relates to the armed robbery at a service station on the corner of Brisbane Street and Cobra Street on August 2. The male allegedly threatened a staff member with a tomohawk axe and stole an amount of cash.
The second armed robbery charge and aggravated assault with intent to rob charges relates to the hold-up of a Victoria Street business in Dubbo on Sunday August 12 about 5:30 am.
“The police are alleging the accused was acting in company with another person,” Sergeant Wood said.
“The accused was in possession of a tomohawk axe and threatened harm to the store attendant.
“Police will allege he assaulted the female staff member by squeezing her throat.
“They were last fleeing along Victoria Street,” Sergeant Adam Wood said.
Following the incident, the victim called triple zero and local police attended and established a crime scene with a number of items undergoing forensic examination.
Investigations by Orana Mid Western Police linked both robberies and identified the man as a suspect,” Orana Mid-Western Police said on their social media.
“Police will continue to take a proactive approach to targeting persons wanted, on warrant or engaging in criminal activity,” Sergeant Adam Wood said.
Police appealed for anyone with information relating to this incident to contact Dubbo Police Station on 6883 1599 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
