National Tree Day is on Sunday and Dubbo Macquarie River Bushcare is inviting the community to help boost the city’s native greenery.
David Harris, who runs the River Repair Bus on behalf of the Inland Waterways Rejuvenation Association said he joined forces with Dubbo Bushcare to ensure each tree was planted in the right spot on the bank.
“On Sunday, we will be planting a wide variety of trees, shrubs, grasses and rushes that are native to this area and all have a role to play in the river foodweb. They provide essential habitat for birds, possums and bats, food for our native fish and help protect the river bank,” Mr Harris said.
Dubbo Macquarie River Bushcare members Samantha Davis and Rod Price have been busy prepping the site for the new trees to get the best start in life.
The trees will be planted at 6R Nulla Road from 10am. Anyone can sign up on the day and all equipment will be provided.
