The Demons overpowered the winless Parkes Panthers and won 12.12.84 to 3.1.19 at South Dubbo Oval.
As has been the case in a number of games in the women’s AFL Central West competition this season, Dubbo helped out the under-strength Panthers and lent them three players for the game.
“It made it a good game, I thought,” Warner said.
“We picked up on some things we wanted to work on and there’s still some things we need to improve on and the game highlighted all that.”
The Demons remain locked with the Bathurst Giants on 32 points in second spot on the ladder while Bathurst Bushrangers are just one win ahead.
With five rounds remaining there is still plenty that can change but Warner feels this weekend’s clash with the Giants could point to how the rest of the season pans out.
“It’s a bit tricky because we beat Bushrangers in round two when they had a few out and then they cleaned us up over there when we short and they lent us players and the same happened against the Giants,” Warner said.
“So it will be interesting to see how we go this weekend with some more numbers. It should give an indication of where we’re at.”
Warner and Lauren Hazell will be key to Dubbo’s hope next weekend after booting five majors each in the win over Parkes.
The Demons shot out of the blocks on Saturday and booted four goals in the first quarter while keeping the Panthers scoreless.
The lead grew to 6.9.45 to 0.1.1 by the main half-time break but the Panthers never gave up and the final result marked the first time the Parkes side had kicked three goals in a match this year.
“They had a really good attitude and came out and they’re pleasant to play against,” Warner said of Parkes.
“They try their best and seemed happy at the end of the game.”
Stephanie Jolliffe, in her first game of Aussie Rules, kicked a goal in the win, while Trudy Sloane booted the game’s other major.
Jolliffe’s effort was one of the major positives for Warner.
“We’ve had a few new players this year and even some of those who have been there since the start have been improving,” Warner said.
“We had two new girls play their first game of the season and one (Jolliffe) was even playing her first game ever and she was amazing.”
