The Cowboys trailed 14-8 after 52 minutes before a Carl Ralph four-pointer sparked a five-try blitz and put them 36-14 in front.
The Magpies struck back through Nathan Ryan at the death but it was too little, too late for the home side.
Ralph ended the game with a double while Brian Baxter, Will Lousick, Justin Toomey-White, Ben McGregor, Nathan Ryan and Bradley McMillan also got themselves on the board.
Meanwhile the Parkes Spacemen proved too good for the Narromine Jets with a 40-22 win at Pioneer Oval.
Jets Wes Middleton and Donald Kennedy both nabbed doubles but it was not enough to overcome Parkes’ performance across the park, with five players crossing for seven tries.
Jacob Smede and Waisele Ratuelina were the stand-outs for Parkes with two tries apiece, while Joseph Dwyer, Jordan Pope and Dennis Moran also crossed.
The weekend’s results saw Dubbo CYMS (24 points) secure the minor premiership with two rounds remaining, while Wellington (18) sit comfortably out of reach of the fourth-placed Forbes (12).
Parkes (16) will need to overcome Dubbo Westside in round 13 or Forbes in the final week to guarantee themselves a top-three finish, while Forbes have done enough to guarantee themselves a finals berth.
Dubbo Westside (6 points) is eyeing off Nyngan Tigers (7) and Dubbo Macquarie (9) in their race for the last finals spot, with the Rabbitohs needing to beat both Parkes and Narromine (4), and have other results go their way, to leap-frog both the Tigers and Raiders into fifth spot.
