Firefighters have described the fire as an intense situation for the first arriving crews. At times flames reached 25-metres-high due to the wind driving the fire into the gum trees and other fuels.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the river bank area. A nearby house and shed were not affected.
The cause of the fire is being investigated and Dubbo firefighters have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Dubbo Police on 6883 1599.
