“Both the twins and mum Caramello are doing well. The labour itself was slow, which is not uncommon, with both kids being born within hours,” said keeper Sasha Brooke.

The kids are both white in colour like their mum, and are already standing, jumping and running around.

 ”Caramello was in labour for a while so I went over to give the Lion Pride Lands keeper talk, and by the time I returned they had been born,” Ms Brooke said.

The twins are part of a herd of nine adult goats and 13 offspring. The goat family has already adjusted to the arrival of the new twins, and the babies themselves are even beginning to play with the other young kids.

The two sets of twins have been spending a lot of time together already. Over the next few weeks, keepers expect the kids will start to gain enough confidence to start climbing over the low fence division between the different yards. The twins are already on exhibit and can be seen during the school holidays in the goat kraal, located in the Lion Pride Lands precinct.

The Masai Village goat kraal exhibit is a great place for families to touch and interact with the goats. This exhibit shows visitors how close African communities live with their goats who are their livelihood.
