The bottom of the table clash was a must-win for the Raiders; they sit two points outside the top five behind Westside and Nyngan with only four rounds remaining.

But they couldn’t gain the ascendancy in a match that saw the lead change hands multiple times.

“Week in, week out we’re probably our biggest enemies,” coach Dylan Hill said.

“I think the penalty count was up in the 20s for us and then the errors, we sort of shot ourselves in the foot.

“We spoke about that at half time – when we held the ball we could score points but very rarely were we able to hold the ball and complete our sets. We were defending a lot so when we did get the ball we were exhausted.”

Ash Widders opened the scoring for the Raiders in the eighth minute but Narromine took the lead soon after through Donald Kennedy and Tony Clevin.

Macquarie struck back around the 20^th minute, with Widders and Jayden Merritt crossing in quick succession. Lewis Stanley added the extras to put the visitors 16-6 in front.

Narromine then went on a roll to lead 18-16 at the break, and apart from tries from Jayden Harvey and Apisai Lomani at either end of the half, the second stanza belonged to the Jets.

Bradley Spencer and Lomani were sin-binned.

“I don’t like to question calls but there are calls that are questionable at times,” Hill said. “But it comes back to us as individuals and as a team [to get on with it].”
