The damage to the fence, located beside the pedestrian rail crossing west of Dubbo Hospital, is believed to have been caused overnight on Saturday.

Dubbo Police had no record of any incident.

Skid marks are apparent on the road surface leading up to the pedestrian rail crossing, while the fence itself has been left bent and broken.

An ARTC spokesperson said they were “aware of the damage” and the fence would be fixed “by the end of the week”.

“There’s also some signage that we need to replace on the mazeway itself which we will be fixing up also,” the spokesperson said.

The Daily Liberal asked the ARTC whether reflective signage should be installed along the fencing, given the rail line’s location at a dead end.

“Incidents at this location are not common,” the ARTC spokesperson said.

“We will also be in touch with Council about what options might be possible to advise motorists it is a dead end street.”
