The winter school holidays start this weekend.
Kid’s Bingo will be held at the Dubbo RSL on both Tuesdays of the holidays. There’ll be a cooking class on Wednesday and movie time on Thursday. The following week a cooking class for children between five and 12-years-old will be held on the Thursday, as well as a gardening class.
As well as the usual tours and Characters in Costumes at the Old Dubbo Gaol, there are also Beyond the Grave Night Tours for those more than 16-years-old and Twilight Family Night tours.
All skills levels are welcome at Dubbo Sports World’s activities. The all-day workshops include soccer, cricket and much more each Wednesday and Thursday of the holidays.
Sport-loving kids can also be entertained at the Dubbo PCYC from Monday to Friday with gymnastics, arts and crafts and indoor sports all on offer.
Taronga Western Plains Zoo has three workshops scheduled. On Tuesday, the zoo will hold a special NAIDOC celebration. Wednesday will be on Dreaming Stories, where participants will be able to learn more about the dreaming world of native animals and on Thursday the day will be about connecting to culture and Wiradjuri ways.
As always the library will hold activities for young and old. On Wednesday, students can make a galaxy in a jar, while on Thursday they can build the Emerald City out of the Wizard of Oz. Free coding workshops will be held each Wednesday for 13 to 18-year-olds.
The second week of school holidays at the library will include a chance to build a machine for Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and creating a boat to sail down Wonka’s chocolate river.
Every weekday there will also be Lego Club between 3pm and 5pm.
For the art lovers, The Western Plains Cultural Centre is holding activities on every day but Thursday of the second week. The workshops include quilt designing, making instruments and plasticine collages.
School holiday activities will also be available every weekday of the school holidays at the Dubbo Neighbourhood Centre.
Meanwhile, Petbarn Dubbo will be hosting two workshops to teach children about the responsibilities that come with owning their first pet. The workshops will be held on Tuesday, July 17 and the following Thursday. It will show children how to take care of a hermit crab.
