He’s seven years old and from a farming family in Trundle.

And last week, this youngster showed that the children of farmers are too feeling the effects of the drought.

Cooper wrote an acrostic poem, which mum Kellylee Dunn posted on social media asking those who read it to “please share”.

Ms Dunn then shared her son’s touching and heartfelt poem on the One Day Closer to Rain (Drought) Facebook page.

The One Day Closer to Rain (Drought) page was launched in May to support farmers and is the brainchild of Merriwa woman Cassandra McLaren.

She created the page as a way to bring people together. It already has 11,380 members.

“I decided to create a page for people to share the impacts of drought,” Ms McLaren wrote in a post when she first created the page.

She said the page is about being there for each other and letting people know they aren’t alone.

Ms McLaren said she realised the impact the drought was having on people when her own daughter Emma got upset by their need to sell cattle.

Cooper’s poem attracted 380 reactions, 22 Comments and 228 “shares” on the One Day Closer to Rain (Drought) page.

His poem also generated 170 reactions, 28 comments and 121 “shares” on his mother’s Facebook page.

D is dried up dams and dust.

R is Rain I pray for every night before bed .

O is Out of water.

U is “uther” farmers really need rain too!!

G is got to sell our sheep dad said.

H is helping dad have a smile when I get home from school and help him feed sheep.

T is trucks bringing hay and grain to us.

“The drought is affecting everyone!” Ms Dunn’s Facebook post said.

“Even our farm kids feel the desperation!”
