The likes of Dubbo’s Clint Lundholm, Gulgong’s Brett Thompson, Forbes’ Dennis Bush and Mudgee’s Cameron Crockett have all nominated for the $35,000 showcase race but, arguably, it’s a newcomer that’s going in with the best form.
Celebrated former country hoop Kody Nestor made his training debut in January with six-year-old Kenny Succeed finishing second in Wellington, and the gelding has won three of his last five starts for the Dubbo trainer since, including his last two starts.
As you’d expect considering that form Nestor has nominated the 70-rater among the cast of stars, which also includes two Country Championship finalists in Bush’s Molasses and Thompson’s I’m Imogen, along with and Crockett’s Rosehill regular Nicktock and Lundholm’s star Joey’s Destiny.
Saturday’s eight-race meeting welcomed a whopping 175 nominations overall with Dubbo’s Connie Greig, and Justin Stanley and Orange’s Michael Plummer and Sonja Sharp, among more of the region’s best, also nominating.
Final fields are expected on Thursday morning.
