Nathan Michael Carroll, 23, pleaded guilty to the charge and to a charge of using corrupt conduct information to bet on event.
He faced magistrate Paul Hayes earlier this month for sentencing.
Carroll was fined $800 and ordered to serve a three-year good behaviour bond for the engaging in conduct that corrupts betting outcome of event offence.
Carroll was also sentenced to serve a three-year good behaviour bond for the use corrupt conduct information to bet on event offence.
Two further charges, also laid earlier this year, of engage in conduct that corrupts betting outcome of event and of use corrupt conduct information to bet on event were withdrawn and dismissed.
