The TAFE NSW fitting and turning student will take part in the WorldSkills national finals in Sydney this weekend.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing how I go against other competitors in my trade from across Australia,” he said.
“It would be a dream come true if I got the chance to represent Australia overseas.
“If I was to get that far, I would not only be very proud of myself but make my family and employer, Luke Cross Engineering and Rigging, very proud of my achievements.”
Mr Larkings is one of eight students from the Central West to tackle the “country’s largest vocational education and excellence competition”.
The finals will be held at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour from June 2.
