The Roos are yet to win back-to-back matches this year with last weekend’s hugely impressive victory at Forbes followed-up with what Robinson labelled a “disappointing” and “:frustrating” loss to the Cowra Eagles on Saturday.
It marked the Eagles’ first away win of the year, and the men in red and white showed the kind of consistency and commitment the Roos were lacking in a 26-19 victory at No. 1 Oval.
A half-time spray from Robinson wasn’t enough to get the Roos over the line and the former Super Rugby star
“Very frustrating. Very disappointing,” he said of the loss.
“We were just out-enthused more than anything and that was disappointing, especially after coming off a good win last weekend.
“Again there was just no consistency and we’re lacking that focus for the full 80 minutes.”
The issue of consistency and commitment was the focus of the Roos’ build-up with captain Shaun McHugh stating before the game “we want to be better than we were in the first round”.
But a win-followed-by-loss pattern remains for the Roos after seven rounds.
The loss, coupled with Forbes’ win over Orange City, means the Roos fall back to fourth while they are now just two points ahead of Cowra.
“Of course we’re going to address it because if you don’t then you’ll just continue to get beaten,” Robinson fired when speaking about his club’s issues.
“We’ve got to look at those pivotal moments in the game and why we’re losing them. Some of its tactical, maybe some inexperience in the backline, but mainly we were just out-enthused and it’s all about mentality.
“Maybe our boys were a bit mentally exhausted but that’s not good enough because there’s no easy games in this competition.”
Despite being hugely underwhelmed with his side, Robinson was also keen to take nothing away from Cowra.
With an improved pack, boosted by the inclusion of Fijian duo Joe Dakuitoga and Kali Nacina, the Eagles outmuscled the Roos on their way to a third win of the year.
“They’re a very handy team and this is a strong competition,” Robinson said.
“They know their strengths and they played to them. They didn’t go away from that and they exploited our weaknesses and did it for the full 80 minutes.
“They had the patience to stick with their system.”
Robinson was keen to turn attention to next weekend’s game at No. 1, stating he was keen to get payback on Orange City after losing at Pride Park earlier in the season.
