While the Rhino Awards will not be held until October, Dubbo Chamber president Matt Wright said now was the time businesses should be evaluating their worth.
“Those businesses that are pretty well organised they can grab that business plan out of the bottom drawer and see where that fits at the moment based on how their business is performing. For those ones who have entered in the past, especially in the last year or two, they can pull out that entry and look at some ways they might be able to refine that a little bit and have a little bit of a head start on those other businesses,” Mr Wright said.
“The businesses that haven’t actually entered previously, we’ve got an information night coming up in a couple of weeks, the date of which we’ll release closer to the event.”
It was also time for the public to be looking around at businesses they might want to nominate for awards, Mr Wright said.
This year’s event will officially be launched at the Dubbo Chamber of Commerce Race Day on Friday, June 15.
“I really encourage people rather than having a counter lunch that day to pop out and maybe have a beer or two. They can network, have something to eat and be entertained in their lunch hour. Maybe have an extended lunch that day. For $30 its pretty good value,” Mr Wright said.

The Rhino Awards might not be until October but there’s plenty to do.
“The committee has got a theme up its sleeve and they’re pretty excited about the awards night itself. We’ve got a lot to do between now and then. The big one for us is to try and get value for all our sponsors. We’ve got several which have signed up already which is fantastic,” Mr Wright said.
The Chamber race day was very well attended last year he said.
For the fourth year the Regional Australia Bank is the major sponsor of the awards.
