Mr Grant said Wear Orange Wednesday is celebrated annually across the country on the Wednesday of National Volunteer Week.
“I urge our community to get involved with WOW Day by wearing something orange in appreciation of our hardworking and dedicated volunteers,” Mr Grant said.
“NSW SES volunteers play a vital role in helping prepare for and recover from all kinds of emergencies and it’s important they’re recognised for their outstanding work.
“WOW Day is about celebrating the volunteers who put the community ahead of themselves, and I would encourage everyone to get behind this fantastic campaign to show their support of these hard working men and women.”
Federal Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton, is also celebrating the theme of the week by encouraging locals to volunteer their time.
Mr Coulton said there are more than 27,000 volunteers in the Parkes electorate.
“Volunteers are the lifeblood of our local communities. They give their time and energy to help others and make the Parkes electorate a wonderful place to live,” Mr Coulton said.
“Whether it’s helping out with local sporting teams and land care groups, responding to natural disasters and emergencies, or helping local charities, volunteering touches all aspects of Australian life,” Mr Coulton said.
“We can never thank our volunteers enough, and National Volunteer Week is a special opportunity to shine a light on the volunteers in the Parkes electorate.
“By helping each other and working together, we are building stronger and safer communities.”
This week, thousands of National Volunteer Week events are taking place around the region to honour these special people.
