Dubbo should be proud to have yet another home-grown senior member of the Australian Defence Force speaking at its Anzac Day Memorial Service, RSL Sub-branch member Bill Greenwood says.

Lieutenant Colonel Scott Morris was born and raised in Dubbo and is currently transitioning to civilian life after 23 years in the Australian Army.
Royal Australian Air Force Wing Commander Robert Graham – who went to school at Dubbo West Public and then Delroy College – was the guest speaker in 2014.
“To have two home-grown, senior members of the Defence Force speaking to their own town, I think everybody should be proud of what Dubbo produces in terms of the quality of the schooling here and the fact that the military personnel we produce come back,” Mr Greenwood said.
“Not only has he [Lt Col Morris] come back here to live, we’ve got a good town out here, he’s a member of our sub-branch now, an active member and he’s doing what he can to get involved.
“Dubbo should be very proud of that.”
Lt Col Morris was a student of the Dubbo Christian School where he completed his Higher School Certificate in 1994.
He attended the Australian Defence Academy from 1995 to 1997 and graduated from the Royal Military College Duntroon in 1998 as an infantry officer.
Lt Col Morris has fulfilled a wide range of regimental, staff and training postings over his 23 years in the army, seeing operational service in East Timor (1999, 2000, 2006 and 2009) and Afghanistan (2014).
In the 2015 Australia Day Honours, he was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross for his support to an ADF operation in the Middle East as a Headquarters Joint Operations Command staff officer from January 2013 to May 2014.
“Lt Col Morris displayed selfless dedication and professional mastery in his duties as the key staff officer managing Operation SLIPPER at Headquarters Joint Operations Command,” his citation read.
“In a complex and unpredictable environment, Lt Col Morris was regularly relied upon to provide specialist advice and staff work to deal with sensitive and urgent operational reporting and briefings.
“His knowledge, attention to detail and intellect earned him the highest respect from his superiors, peers and subordinates alike.”
The highlight of Lt Col Morris’ career was his appointment as the commanding officer of the School of Infantry in Singleton from January 2015 to December 2017.
He is currently on long service leave, pending separation from the army later this year.
