A survey run by the Daily Liberal on Tuesday asked people to share their thoughts on the machines, with a total of 105 responses as of Wednesday morning.
Dubbo currently has two reverse vending machines and 94 per cent said ‘yes’ to the City having another.
When asked about their experience using a Return and Earn machine in Dubbo, 53 per cent said it had been ‘negative’, while 28 per cent were ‘neutral’ and 19 per cent were ‘positive’.
The average wait time at one of the Return and Earn machines was 30 minutes to an hour, with 43 per cent.
Thirsty-six per cent of respondents said they wait less than 30 minutes and 23 per cent said they wait over an hour to recycle their containers.
When asked their thoughts on Dubbo's current Return and Earn machines the respondents spoke about the need for a third machine, the machines always being full and needing to be emptied more often.
I had to stop taking my children there because its dirty.

“It’s a great idea but need a lot more bins to put the rubbish in! It is frustrating travelling to Dubbo to use the machine, majority of the time there is a huge line up or only one of the terminals is working,” one survey respondent said.
“Fine people for littering. Wait is far too long on cans to make it worthwhile. Put in more can recycling machines. Both spots in Dubbo are horrible. The one in Victoria Park is right in the middle of the path the kids use to go from the park to the Skate Park. The one in West Dubbo is just plonked down in the car park,” another said.
Some of the people surveyed said the scheme was a great way to promote recycling.
“It's amazing and encourages people and youth to recycle,” one person wrote.
“They’re awesome if we can stop the litter bugs,” said another.
“Environmentally good,” was another response.
But many of the survey respondents were upset with the state of the sites.
“Most of the time they are broken or full, big line ups or even broken glass everywhere, which is dangerous. I had to stop taking my children there because its dirty,” one person said.
“It’s a great facility, but is always full when I go and is always a mess near the skip bins. Shopping trolleys overflowing with rejected bottles and boxes and bags used to bring them to the return machine,” another said.
“Can be frustrating when people are lazy leaving others rubbish behind,” was one answer.
There were also many responses on social media on the current Return and Earn machines.
“I can't understand why people can't take their rubbish back home? Lazy,” Michelle Thompson said.
Dee Teez said “maybe a cardboard recycling bin there as well might help.”
