There is no mistaking it’s the holiday season with Dubbo Regional Council putting plenty of effort into decorations and festive activities.
A Christmas gift wrapping zone opened on Monday at Dubbo Printing Works and will operate between Monday and Friday until December 22.
For a gold coin, anyone can bring their presents in and have them expertly wrapped by members of the Country Women’s Association, Pink Angels and representatives for Bear Cottage, who will all be helping. The money donated will then be donated to those charities.
Smile. It’s Christmas co-ordinator Tammy Pickering said the gift wrapping was an opportunity to provide a useful service, while raising money.
“If you are shopping in the main street and you have presents that you need wrapped, come in and for a small donation, you can let our team do the hard work,” she said.
“You can sit down, there is a place for the kids to colour in, enjoy some cold water and relax while you wait.”
In previous years the gift wrapping station has been in a vacant shopfront but this year, the main street has few options, so Dubbo Printing Works has stepped in.
Dubbo Printing Works have allowed us to use their shop on Macquarie Street. They are still moving into this premises so they have allowed us to move into the back section.
“We’re working with them and hoping to get plenty of people coming through the door,” Ms Pickering said.
Because Bear Cottage is based in Sydney, employees from Dubbo businesses have stepped in to help man the store on their behalf.
Ms Pickering said it was great that businesses had got behind the promotion.
The Christmas gift wrapping zone is located at Dubbo Printing Works, 214 Macquarie Street, next to the NAB. It is open between 10am and 2pm Monday to Friday.
