In days the matter has shifted from “resignation” to “termination” to “mutually agreed termination”.
If Mr Riley had resigned he would have been entitled to leave and other entitlements, perhaps tens of thousands of dollars.
In a “termination” he would receive 38 weeks pay or $224,346 plus leave etc (based on his annual package of $305,000). It has been suggested DRC would give him $305,000.
“Mutually agreed termination” has not been defined. Did the DRC negotiate a higher sum? Mr Riley had around two years, seven months left on his contract. If the DRC paid the full contract it would cost $793,000 of ratepayers money.
