The students achieved merit to high distinction awards in this year’s Newcastle Permanent Mathematics Competition.
Almost 19,000 students from 323 primary schools across the Hunter, Central Coast, Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast, New England and Central West regions sat the 35 question exam in August.
Year 6 student Daniel Allen, and his Year 5 peers Benjamin English and Nathaniel Lewis received a high distinction.
Samantha Theobald from the Newcastle Permanent Dubbo branch said the competition was one of the many ways the bank gives back to the community.
“And importantly for us as a financial institution it encourages students to enjoy maths, by challenging them to use problem solving skills in life based situations,” she said.
“Each year students produce some outstanding results and again this year we expect to find some exceptional young minds in our regional schools.”
