The youngster takes part in the Stampede with his parents and siblings every year – and doesn’t let his physical disability get in his way.
The family of six are among only about 30 people to have competed in every Stampede since the event began in 2012.
“Isaac our youngest has physical disabilities so we did it in the wheelchair for the first couple of years and then we got a jogging pram because it’s much easier to run,” Isaac’s mum Anna said.
“He just likes to go fast and be involved in the community so this is a lovely way to do that.
“He sort of feels like an Olympian when he walks the last little bit … you would do anything just for that sense of satisfaction for him and the whole community here is just beautiful.”
Dad Michael and siblings Sam, Molly and Zoe also took part in Sunday’s 5.3 kilometre fun run, and Anna said it was a great chance to do something “together as a family”.
She welcomed the introduction of the 5.3km Wallaby Wheel in 2017.
“Things like this, you don’t factor into your head if you’re in a wheelchair sometimes but now it’s open so they can be a part of it,” Anna said.
“It’s a wonderful thing for the committee to start and I’m hoping, year after year, that event is going to get bigger and bigger like the other ones have.
“The event is wonderfully organised so a massive thank you to the all the people who spend hours and hours and hours organising it. The fact that it’s gone from a little fun run and now it’s got all those events and the marathon and the half marathon, it’s a testament to the hard work of the committee.”
