In the Dubbo local government area, Dubbo Regional Council approved 84 development applications last month with a total value of $22.6 million.
Of those approved, 26 were single dwellings and six were for multi-unit housing, adding 11 units to the city.
While previously the Dubbo and Wellington applications had been calculated separately, from this month the statistics will be combined, council director planning and environment Melissa Watkins said.
Despite the combined figures, the number of development applications has remained consistent from July 2016. However, the value of the applications has dramatically increased. In July 2016 there was $15.7 million worth of development approved, while last month there was $22.6 million.
In June 2017, there were 36 dwellings given the go ahead from council.
Ms Watkins said the high number of housing approvals in the past two months showed there was obviously good prospects in the housing sector in Dubbo and Wellington.
“At this point we’ve finally got under control the influx [of developments] we had towards the end of June and now we’re starting to see new development applications come forward. They’re in a mix of areas it’s not just dwellings, there’s also come commercial development so it’s all good for the economy,” Ms Watkins said.
As well as the dwellings approved during the month there were also three retail buildings with a value of almost $1.5 million, two educational buildings at $4.2 million, an office building with a value of $916,000 and a $125,000 warehouse.
Single dwellings were the most common form of development application, followed by garages or carport – 23 were approved during the month.
The progress of developments that have been submitted to Dubbo Regional Council can be viewed at the Application Tracker on council’s website. All development applications, construction certificates and complying development certificates submitted from January 1, 2010 are available.
The tracker does not show floor plans for residential dwellings or internal reports.
