The busy pace continues at Charles Sturt University (CSU) in Dubbo.
On Wednesday July 19, staff, students and community members celebrated CSU Foundation Day. We reflected on our successes, celebrated our past and looked to the future. Everyone was encouraged to wear red, and to attend a campus morning tea and a trivia night that evening.
Following the recent successful Check It Out Day on campus for students from schools in Yeoval and Tottenham, Future Moves will be back at CSU in Dubbo on August 22 with students in Years 9 and 10 from schools in Trangie and Yeoval.
Approximately 80 people, many of whom had not been on campus before, attended the launch of the inaugural art exhibition at CSU in Dubbo featuring wood carvings by local Wiradjuri artist Mr Mal Morris.
His unique and wonderful artwork is the first to be displayed in the new learning commons space. The launch attracted considerable local media attention.
Three students from CSU in Dubbo were selected to be in the CSU team of 170 student athletes to compete against NSW and ACT universities at the Eastern University Games at Newcastle from July 2 to 6.
Trials were held at Bathurst, Wagga, Dubbo and Port Macquarie campuses to ensure the most competitive teams were selected.
The three students from CSU in Dubbo were Brendon Jones (Bachelor of Social Work) and Alice Barber (Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary) for Mixed Netball, and Mikaela Dart (Bachelor of Nursing) for Women’s Soccer. CSU placed 8th overall (out of 16), with notable placings in Lawn Bowls (Gold and Bronze), Indoor Cricket (Bronze), and Women’s Hockey (Bronze).
CSU will celebrate its 20th anniversary in Dubbo on September 7 with an informal event from 5pm to 7pm. We are organising a photo display and invite previous staff members, community members, alumni and past graduates as well as current students to attend. Please remember to RSVP on 6885 7305 so we can cater appropriately.
The new Regional Consultative Committee (RCC) will hold a dinner with Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Vann and a cross-section of the community on July 26.
