These much loved lyrics have been entertaining Australian children for over 50 years and on Wednesday Big Ted, Little Ted, Humpty and Jemima were entertaining hundreds of Dubbo children, parents and carers.
Presenters Alex Papps and Teo Gebert, along with pianist Bill Hucher performed to the sell out crowd at the Dubbo RSL as part of a regional tour.
They said Play School has become a “cultural heirloom” to generations of Australians
“And people feel attached to that,” Teo said.
In the 50 plus years that Play School has been on Australian television there have been many memorable songs and Alex said there are certain ones that audiences love to hear including ‘I’m a little teapot’, ‘Twinkle twinkle little star’ and ‘The wheels on the bus’.
With many stories still to tell, Alex and Teo hope that Play School can continue for many years to come.
The regional tour will see the Play School team travel over 1000 kilometres and go to places such as Canberra, Lismore Coffs Harbour and finish on the Gold Coast.
