Held in Sydney last month, the 2017 Country Championships saw gymnasts compete across six gymsports – Acrobatic, Men’s Artistic, Rhythmic, Team Gym, Trampoline and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics.
Two young local female gymnasts 9 year old Monique Craft and 10 year old Bailee-Jade Hutchinson achieved at the highest level with each individual gymnast receiving Gold medals in the Level 4 competition, resulting in both girls standing amongst some of NSW top female competitors.
Gymnasts Joshua Mann, 17 and Jacob Mclean, 10 finished first in their respective divisions Level 6 and Level 1 resulting in them being crowned NSW Men’s Country Champions.
Level 4 gymnast Joel Barker, 11, achieved second in his division.
Jared Readford, 10 years, placed fourth in a very strong Level 3 Division.
Multi-gymsport events such as this one showcase the diversity of gymnastics and demonstrates that gymnastics truly is a sport for everybody.

Other competitor results from the Championships were Maverick Hutchinson Level 1 Junior Men’s receiving a Silver banding, Level 4 Women’s gymnasts Abby Clissold, Emmerson Ferguson and Courtney May receiving Silver bandings.
Level 5 gymnast Ella Stewart, Level 6 Gymnasts Georgie Cudmore and Eva Lordon all qualified to compete in the NSW State Championships to be held in August, with Eva Lordon placing equal fourth on Vault and equal sixth on Beam.
Dubbo PCYC Coach Trish Harland said “the recent results and success of all these gymnasts comes down to a structured and productive competitive gymnastic framework, coaches education and the implementing of this program by our dedicated coaching staff.”
Held from Thursday, July 6 to Monday, July 10, the athletes traveled from as far as Lismore, Dubbo and Wagga Wagga.
Gymnastics NSW CEO, Aaron Bloomfield said he celebrated another successful event that showcases the diversity and talent that within our rural communities.
“Multi-gymsport events such as this one showcase the diversity of gymnastics and demonstrates that gymnastics truly is a sport for everybody,” Mr Bloomfield said.
