Approximately $3500-4000 in damage was done to Dave and Alison Amor’s late-model Toyota Prado by another vehicle on Monday night in the undercover car park behind Riverdale Shopping Central.
Ms Amor had parked the vehicle there at approximately 6.15pm and returned around half an hour later at 6.45pm to find it badly damaged. There was no note or details left by the person responsible.
“I’m really cranky that it’s happened,” Mr Amor said.
“The annoying thing is there were barely any other cars in the car park at the time so there were plenty of spaces.
“My wife walked out of the shopping centre and kept walking past the car because she saw the damage and thought it was someone else’s car.
“It was only when she saw there wasn’t another one nearby and looked at the number plate she realised it was ours.”
Mr Amor has offered a $500 reward for anyone who has accurate information on who may have damaged the car.
“I thought someone may have seen something and may have been able to provide some details that may help track the person down,” he said.
“It has done about $3500-4000 in damage because the damage is across three panels.
“We have insurance so it won’t cost us that much to repair but we have to pay a $700 excess.
“Then there is the hassle of being without a car while it is repaired, and there is a backlog with panel beaters because of hail damaged cars and it could be several months before it gets fixed.”
The online community offered their help, with a post on Facebook by Mr Amor on Monday night asking for information being shared more than 250 times.
Mr Amor said he had been informed there was no security cameras nearby that would be able to help find the culprit.
“It’s an inconvenience and expense we could have done without, caused by an inconsiderate person,” Mr Amor said.
